Following are guidelines, requirements and instructions that are also included on the Application which can be accessed by clicking on the above picture button.

The Richmond Chapter of Credit Unions proudly offers two $1,000.00 scholarships that are available for college, technical, or trade school enrollment after June 30, 2014, and before December 31, 2014.

Each scholarship is available to a high school student who will graduate in 2014 and begin college by December 31, 2014.  Scholarships are awarded primarily on the basis of merit and not on financial need.

  • Applicant, or the applicant's parent, must be a member in good standing of a credit union that is a participating member of the Richmond Chapter of Credit Unions.
  • Applicant must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.8 (grades 9-11).
  • An official transcript must accompany the Application.
  • Applicant must have demonstrated leadership skills with a strong involvement in extracurricular activities and community service organizations.
  • Applicant shall have demonstrated outstanding citizenship qualities that show loyalty, trustworthiness, integrity, and a genuine concern for the well-being of others.
  • Applicant must complete the Application and include a written essay of 300 to 500 words that explains the "Credit Union Difference" and what it means to the Applicant.

The Scholarship Committee will announce the scholarship winners at the May 2014 meeting of the Richmond Chapter of Credit Unions.
